EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers will be honouring members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) when they host the Boston Bruins on Monday, February 27 at Rogers Place. From February 23 to 27, the Oilers 50/50 will be in support of Homes For Heroes and 4 Wing Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) providing support for military families in Alberta.
Canadian Armed Forces Appreciation Night will feature members of the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army and Royal Canadian Air Force in attendance. A limited number of tickets are still available for this game at EdmontonOilers.com/Tickets.
Oilers players will be wearing military-themed warmup jerseys that will be signed and available via online auction, with proceeds going to 4 Wing MFRC and Homes For Heroes. Players and club staff will also be wearing yellow helmet decals and ribbons, respectively, for Support Our Troops -- a platform that allows supporters to show their care, compassion and support to former and serving CAF members and their families.
"The Oilers are proud to honour the extraordinary men and women who serve our country at this year's Canadian Armed Forces Appreciation Night at Rogers Place," said Tim Shipton, Executive Vice President, OEG Sports and Entertainment. "The CAF plays a critical role, at home and abroad, in preserving the safety and sovereignty of our country, and for that we are deeply grateful."
"We are ever thankful for the continued and truly unparalleled commitment, sacrifice, and dedication of Canadian Armed Forces members and their families," said Corey Smith, Board Chair, EOCF. "The EOCF is honoured to support Homes for Heroes and 4 Wing MFRC to help serve the unique needs and challenges faced by CAF members and their families."

"Homes For Heroes is engaged, every day, in assisting Canada's veterans in need," said Dave Howard, President of Homes For Heroes. "Our ATCO Veterans Village in the community of Evansdale in Edmonton is home to 20 veterans who were previously homeless or precariously housed. In Edmonton and Calgary, we have already been able to assist twenty veterans to make the transition back into mainstream society and we couldn't be more pleased."
"We can't thank the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation enough for their ongoing support of Homes For Heroes, our veterans and members of the Canadian Armed Forces," said Cameron Diggon, Director of Fund Development with Homes For Heroes. "The EOCF plays a very special role within the Edmonton community, and we are honoured to have their support."
"We are very proud to partner with the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation, who have been tremendous supporters of our Tutoring Program," said Floyd Perras, Executive Director of 4 Wing Military Family Resource Centre. "Our tutoring program has had a significant positive impact for our military and veteran families and allowed their dependants to become more confident in their learning skills, improved their overall marks, and provided growth and resilience for all the students enrolled in our program. We are very grateful for the partnership we have with the EOCF as we work together to better the lives of our military and veteran families."
In addition to the main 50/50 jackpot, there are a number of early-bird prizes up for grabs during the raffle, including premium concert and Oilers tickets, 100,000 Aeroplan points, Skip The Dishes and Safeway gift cards, and round-trip tickets to Edmonton International Airport's brand-new, non-stop destination: Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Anyone in Alberta can participate in the Oilers 50/50 at EdmontonOilers.com/5050.
