Upon returning from the Young Stars Classic in Penticton, British Columbia (Sept. 8-11), the Oilers rookies will play the MacEwan-NAIT All-Star Team in its final exhibition game before Oilers Training Camp opens on September 14.

"We are excited to partner with MacEwan University and NAIT for the 2017 Oilers Rookie Game," said Edmonton Oilers Director of Salary Cap Management & Assistant to the President of Hockey Operations Bill Scott. "MacEwan's men's and women's hockey programs play out of the Downtown Community Arena and both the Griffins and the Ooks helped us open Rogers Place in 2016 by playing in test games. This is a great opportunity to promote hockey programming at the post-secondary level in downtown Edmonton and continue to develop Edmonton as a hockey centre of excellence."

The MacEwan Griffins are the defending ACAC Champions, after capturing their first championship since 2004 last March, defeating the NAIT Ooks.

"This is an amazing opportunity for MacEwan University to partner with both the Oilers and NAIT," said MacEwan Director of Athletics Ken Schildroth. "We're looking forward to being a part of an event that will provide great entertainment for Edmonton hockey fans."

The NAIT Ooks finished first during the ACAC regular season in 2016-17, accumulating a record of 22-6-2 (46PTS) and also led the ACAC in goals for (138). MacEwan finished in second place, three points behind NAIT and led the ACAC in fewest goals allowed (69), while posting a 21-7-1 record.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for the NAIT Ooks to partner with our crosstown rivals from MacEwan University to showcase the calibre of ACAC men's hockey," said NAIT's Athletics Director John Bower. "We thank the Oilers for offering our student-athletes this exceptional experience."
