Goalie buffs rejoice: goaltender Cam Talbot is breaking in a new set of goalie gear tailor-made for the Oilers orange third jerseys.
The starting keeper flashed the leather Friday at practice.

"Maybe be ready by the next time we wear the orange (jerseys) but yeah, just trying to break them in," said Talbot, who recorded his 18th win Thursday. "Feeling pretty good but not ready for a game yet."
Talbot talked about the amount of time it takes for the new equipment to be ready for a game.
"I say three solid practices for the pads," he said. "Gloves, maybe an extra practice or two just to break them in, make sure that pucks aren't popping out of them. It doesn't take too long nowadays, they come pretty well broken in and they feel pretty good."
He also noted how frequently he changes up the protection under the Oilers jersey.
"I'm only on my second chest pad this year and still on my first pair of pants, so I don't go through those quite as often but once the pads and gloves start to break down and I start to feel a few pucks and stuff, that's never good. Those tend to get recycled a bit more often."
As for the new design, Talbot left the artwork up to his CCM representative.
"My CCM rep just came up with 12 designs for orange and 12 designs for blue and I just went through and picked the ones I liked the best."
