EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers held their first practice following the All-Star break at Rogers Place on Monday afternoon as the team gets set to begin a busy stretch of games to the end of the regular season with Tuesday's visit from the Vegas Golden Knights.
Mike Smith was activated earlier in the day from Injured Reserve and took shots in the starter's crease after it was confirmed by Head Coach Dave Tippett that netminder Mikko Koskinen tested positive for COVID-19 and entered the League's protocol.
Smith spent two months on the IR with a lower-body injury earlier in the season and returned into the lineup for three games at the turn of the new year before landing back on the shelf with a partially torn tendon in his thumb and missing a further eight games of action.
