TSN declared Oilers Captain Connor McDavid the best player in the National Hockey League on Tuesday.
McDavid supplanted Pittsburgh Penguins centre Sidney Crosby, who's been heralded the best player every season since 2010. Crosby was ranked No. 2.
"It's always a nice honour," the 20-year-old said Tuesday after practice. "Ultimately, it's just a ranking and hockey is lucky to have a number of great stars in and around the League and all over the world. To be on top is nice but you also recognize all the other guys that could be there."
While McDavid remained humble in receiving the feat, his peers acknowledged the sentiment.
