Morgan Rielly has four points in Maple Leafs win

TORONTO -- Morgan Rielly had a goal and three assists, and the Toronto Maple Leafs scored four times in the third period of a 6-3 win against the Philadelphia Flyers at Air Canada Centre on Friday.
Rielly, Zach Hyman, Martin Marincin and Leo Komarov each scored his first goal of the season for Toronto (6-5-3), and Frederik Andersen made 30 saves.

"It's nice to get that first one out of the way," Rielly said. "I've really not tried to think about it at all. For me, it's about matchups."
Hyman scored the game-winning goal when he backhanded a loose puck past goalie Steve Mason to make it 4-3 at 8:34 of the third period
"I had so many chances and it's always fun scoring goals," Hyman said. "It's been a while and the first one is always the hardest for me. It felt good to get that one out of the way."
The teams combined for four goals in the first period.

Rielly got his first point, an assist, when the Maple Leafs (6-5-3) opened the scoring on Nazem Kadri's breakaway goal. Kadri skated past Flyers defenseman Michael Del Zotto, and then deked and snuck the puck past Mason's right pad to make it 1-0 at 2:54. It was Kadri's seventh goal.
Philadelphia forward Wayne Simmonds scored the first of his two goals in the game by deflecting Claude Giroux's point shot past Andersen on the power play to tie it 1-1 at 3:59.
The Flyers (6-7-2) took a 2-1 lead 26 seconds later. Travis Konecny received a stretch pass from Radko Gudas, beat Maple Leafs defenseman Connor Carrick for a partial breakaway, and backhanded a shot past Andersen at 4:25.
With Toronto on a 5-on-3 power play, Rielly waited with the puck in the slot before shooting it past Mason to tie it 2-2 with 52 seconds left in the first.

Simmonds scored his second goal on a shorthanded breakaway, beating Andersen through the five-hole for a 3-2 Flyers lead at 2:53 of the second period.
Marincin ended a 21-game goal drought dating to March 19 when he scored to tie it 3-3. The defenseman took a drop pass from Rielly at the point and beat Mason with a slap shot at 4:03 of the third period.
Komarov scored a shorthanded goal at 11:32 to make it 5-3, and Mitchell Marner beat Mason for his fifth goal with 3:43 remaining to make it 6-3.
"We turned a pretty good two-period effort into a poor outcome," Flyers coach Dave Hakstol said. "We've got to finish. We didn't finish in the third period, that's the bottom line."
Mason allowed six goals on 23 shots. He is 2-5-2 with a 3.56 goals-against average and .874 save percentage.
"The last one I wasn't happy with," Mason said. "Realistically, all of them are stoppable."

Simmons used a burst of speed to get clear of Rielly with the Flyers shorthanded, and then beat Andersen with a quick snap shot to give Philadelphia its second and final lead.

With Philadelphia up 3-2, Simmonds left a pass for Giroux in front of the net. Andersen slid across the crease and stuck his right pad out to deny Giroux at 13:34 of the second period.

Highlight of the game

With the Maple Leafs pressuring in the Flyers zone, Rielly made a no-look drop pass to Marincin, whose slap shot from the point beat Mason to tie it.

Unsung moment of the game

Hyman's goal was made possible by three consecutive shot attempts by Auston Matthews, including one that was stopped by Mason and another that hit the crossbar. "It was great. I think Auston [Matthews] hit the crossbar again, and luckily the rebound was there and I put it in," Hyman said. "It felt good."
