Jesse Puljujarvi scored his second of the preseason 10:16 into the first period to put Edmonton up 1-0.
Marko Dano and Adam Lowry scored for Winnipeg 1:10 apart in the second period to tie it 2-2 at 5:53.

Andrew Copp got Winnipeg within 4-3 at 6:01 of the third period. Milan Lucic made it 6-3 with 3:59 remaining before Rattie scored with 1:15 to go.
Cam Talbot made 20 saves for Edmonton. Eric Comrie made 30 for Winnipeg.

Ovechkin scores in debut, but Capitals lose to Canadiens

Alex Ovechkin scored in his first game of the preseason, but the Washington Capitals lost 5-2 to the Montreal Canadiens at Videotron Centre in Quebec City.
Brendan Gallagher, Michael Chaput and Jacob de la Rose scored in the first period for Montreal. Artturi Lehkonen made it 4-0 at 2:28 of the second before Ovechkin scored on the power play at 5:17 to make it 4-1.
Connor Hobbs got the Capitals to within 4-2 at 13:06, but Rinat Valiev made it 5-2 at 10:07 of the third period.

Greiss, Gibson help Islanders shut out Devils

Thomas Greiss and Christopher Gibson combined to make 36 saves for the New York Islanders in a 2-0 win against the New Jersey Devils at Barclays Center.
Kieffer Bellows scored in the first period and Anders Lee scored in the third for the Islanders, each on the power play. Greiss made 25 saves playing the first two periods; Gibson made 11 saves in relief.
Keith Kinkaid made 25 saves playing the entire game for the Devils.

Red Wings rally to defeat Blackhawks

Evgeny Svechnikov scored a tiebreaking goal with 5:45 left in the third period, and the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 4-2 at Little Caesars Arena.
After Thomas Vanek gave Detroit a 1-0 lead 13:07 into the first period, Patrick Kane and MacKenzie Entwistle scored second-period goals 1:38 apart to give Chicago at 2-1 lead at 5:08 of the second.
Andreas Athanasiou tied it 2-2 at 10:50 of the second. Gustav Nyquist scored an empty-net goal with 45 seconds left in the third period for the 4-2 final.
Patrick Rybar did not allow a goal making 10 saves playing the final 30 minutes for Detroit, after Jonathan Bernier made 11 saves.
Anton Forsberg made 13 saves on 14 shots, and Kevin Lankinen made 11 on 13 for Chicago.

Stars gets past Wild with two third-period goals

Justin Dowling scored the go-ahead goal for the Dallas Stars with 4:06 remaining in a 3-1 win against the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center.
Radek Faksa scored into an empty net with 28 seconds left for the 3-1 final.
Defenseman Miro Heiskanen, the No. 3 pick of the 2017 NHL Draft, gave the Stars a 1-0 lead at 5:31 of the first period. Zach Parise tied it 1-1 for the Wild at 14:44 of the second.
Anton Khudobin started for Dallas and made the save on all 14 shots he faced. Colton Point made 12 saves on 13 shots in 29:51.
Devan Dubnyk played the entire game for Minnesota and made 20 saves.

Sharks storm back to defeat Ducks

The San Jose Sharks scored three goals in the second period and three in the third for a 7-3 win against the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center.
Ondrej Kase scored his second goal to give Anaheim a 3-2 lead 7:01 into the second. Radim Simek and Jake Middleton scored 1:37 apart to put San Jose ahead 4-3 at 13:45.
Lukas Radil gave the Sharks a 5-3 lead 11:31 into the third period. Joonas Donskoi made it 6-3 with 3:23 left, and Antti Suomela pushed it to 7-3 27 seconds later.
Kase made it 1-0 at 4:53 of the first period. Suomela tied it 1-1 at 6:12 before Jakob Silfverberg put the Ducks back on top 2-1 at 16:57.
Kevin Labanc tied it 2-2 4:53 into the second.
Each team had 26 shots on goal.
Aaron Dell made 23 saves for San Jose, who played without defenseman Erik Karlsson, who first practiced with the Sharks on Wednesday after being traded by the Ottawa Senators a week ago.
Ryan Miller made 15 saves on 18 shots for Anaheim before he was relieved by Jared Coreau in the second period; Coreau made four saves on eight shots.

Canucks rally for shootout win against Kings

Nikolay Goldobin scored the deciding goal in the fourth round of the shootout to give the Vancouver Canucks a 4-3 win against the Los Angeles Kings at Rogers Arena.
Bo Horvat had two goals and an assist for the Canucks, and Sven Baertschi had a goal and an assist.
Adrian Kempe, Tanner Pearson and Emerson Etem scored for the Kings.
Canucks rookie forward Elias Pettersson and Kings defenseman Kale Clague each had two assists.
Etem, in Kings training camp on a professional tryout contract, scored with 1:54 left in the second period to give Los Angeles a 3-1 lead.
Horvat scored his second goal to make it 3-2 at 4:19 of the third period, and Baertschi tied it 3-3 with 4:13 left.
Horvat made it 1-0 in the first period. Kempe tied it 1-1 at 2:36 of the second, and Pearson gave the Kings a 2-1 lead at 8:31.
Jacob Markstrom made 29 saves for Vancouver. Jack Campbell played the first two periods for Los Angeles and made 22 saves on 23 shots, and Peter Budaj made seven saves in relief.

Golden Knights score seven in win against Kings

Jonathan Marchessault (two goals, two assists) and Reilly Smith (one goal, three assists) each had four points for the Vegas Golden Knights in a 7-2 win against the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center.
William Karlsson had a goal and two assists, and Keegan Kolesar and Nicolas Hague each had a goal and an assist for Vegas. Daniel Carr also scored for the Golden Knights, who got 17 saves from Oscar Dansk.
Jeff Carter and Ilya Kovalchuk scored for the Kings. It was Kovalchuk's first goal of the preseason. He had an assist in his debut with the Kings on Tuesday after signing with them July 1 following five seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League.
Jonathan Quick allowed six goals on 23 shots in two periods, and Cal Petersen made five saves in the third.
