PREDATORS (14-12-5) at DEVILS (12-12-7)
7 p.m. ET; MSG+, FS-TN

Predators team scope

Nashville Predators defenseman P.K. Subban remains out of the lineup with an upper-body injury and will not play Tuesday. He also missed a 2-1 shootout victory against the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday. Defenseman Adam Pardy, recalled from Milwaukee of the American Hockey League, played in Subban's place Monday and got 9:20 in ice time. Goaltender Pekka Rinne has played in back-to-back games only once this season, on Oct. 26 and 27, so there is a possibility backup Juuse Saros could start. Saros is 1-2-0 with a 1.49 goals-against average and a .946 save percentage in four games. The Predators did not skate Tuesday morning.

Devils team scope

The New Jersey Devils want to build on the good things that came out of a 3-2 shootout loss to the New York Rangers on Sunday, which extended their losing streak to six games (0-5-1). "Our focus can't be on the win or the loss, it has to be on why are we getting our game going in the right direction and how do we take a step further, because it is not totally where it needs to be," coach John Hynes said after the morning skate Tuesday. "Our attention to detail in the defensive zone was much better," forward Kyle Palmieri said. "We maybe gave up a few more odd-man rushes than we would have liked, but in the defensive zone, our attention to detail and our structure was where it needs to be to be successful. I don't think we gave [the Rangers] too many good looks or extended time in our zone." Hynes said he wants to continue to see the Devils get back to the speed game they showed early in the season, when they went 9-3-3 in their first 15 games.

Status report

Wood remains on the second line, having earned a promotion after his call-up from Albany of the AHL on Nov. 29. Wood has two goals in his past three games and had six shots against the Rangers. "His speed really helps," Hynes said. "Henrique and Palmieri are really smart players and they know what to do with the puck when they have it, and you have a guy like Wood, he helps them establish a lot of offensive-zone time." Subban remains day to day; he has missed the past three games but has played in all but 15 games since the start of the 2013-14 season.
