Fantasy forward bargains for 2017-18

Fantasy rankings can differ from average draft positions by a wide margin. Capitalizing on such discrepancies can help you win your league.
Here are some forwards with low Yahoo ADPs. These players should be around at least a round or two after their NHL.com rank and provide added value the later they fall.

Ryan Getzlaf, C, ANA (NHL.com: 29; Yahoo ADP: 53.3)
The 32-year-old had 73 points (15 goals, 58 assists) in 74 games last season and found chemistry with right wing Patrick Eaves down the stretch on the first line. And who could forget Getzlaf's dominant Stanley Cup Playoff performance (8-11-19 in 17 games)? The depth of his position is the only reason for his dip in drafts, but he remains a top 10 fantasy center. He could get an added spark from having emerging forwards Rickard Rakell and Jakob Silfverberg on the first power-play unit in Ryan Kesler's absence.
Alexander Radulov, RW, DAL (NHL.com: 51; Yahoo ADP: 87.4)
Radulov is likely to reach NHL career highs in nearly every standard fantasy category after joining the high-powered Dallas Stars offense. If the preseason is any indication, a line of Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin and Radulov could do some serious damage at even strength and on the first power-play unit with fellow bargain Jason Spezza (ADP: 116.5). Buckle up.
Ryan Johansen, C, NSH (NHL.com: 53; Yahoo ADP: 104.1)
Johansen was a bargain based on ADP last season; he finished 54th after being taken at 78.6 on average. Now, the 25-year-old center is going outside the top 100 despite being fully healthy after a thigh injury. He has exceeded 70 points before and was nearly a point-per-game player in the 2017 postseason (3-10-13 in 14 games).
Aleksander Barkov, C, FLA (NHL.com: 56; Yahoo ADP: 99.3)
Barkov has a strong points-per-game average over the past three seasons (0.74), but fantasy owners seem to be losing faith because of his inability to stay healthy. You can score big in drafts by stacking likely linemates in Barkov, Jonathan Huberdeau (ADP: 78.7) and sleeper Evgenii Dadonov (78.7), who rejoined the Florida Panthers from the Kontinental Hockey League.
Claude Giroux, C, PHI (NHL.com: 57; Yahoo ADP: 69.2)
One season after being drafted on average at 17.9, Giroux is a
glaring bounce-back candidate
on the Philadelphia Flyers' top line and first power-play unit with Jakub Voracek. A full offseason to get healthy, influx of youth around him and a likely shooting percentage (7.0 last season) correction should make him worth an investment as the No. 2 center on your roster.

Jeff Skinner, LW, CAR (NHL.com: 74; Yahoo ADP: 85.5)
The Carolina Hurricanes are being underestimated in drafts and Skinner remains underrated after scoring 37 goals (sixth in NHL) with an elite shot volume (281 shots on goal; seventh). You can easily land two of the following in your draft: Skinner, Sebastian Aho (ADP: 93.2), Justin Faulk (97.1), Scott Darling (120.4), Teuvo Teravainen (173.3) and Elias Lindholm (175.2). Don't sleep on this possession-savvy team that could finally break through.
Anze Kopitar, C, LAK (NHL.com: 79; Yahoo ADP: 100.4)
Talk about value at the center position; Kopitar is now going outside the top 100 in many leagues after being drafted inside the top 30 last season (29.4). He should improve off a low shooting percentage (8.0) and could find chemistry with veteran addition Michael Cammalleri. Either way, Kopitar will be on the first power-play unit with Jeff Carter, Tyler Toffoli and Drew Doughty, and is a near lock to return fantasy value going this late.
Taylor Hall, LW, NJD (NHL.com: 81; Yahoo ADP: 92.6)
It never hurts to invest in a team's leading scorer outside the top 75 overall, especially in a case like the much-improved New Jersey Devils. Hall, 25, had an NHL career-high 80 points (27 goals, 53 assists) for the Edmonton Oilers in 2013-14, and has high upside if taken outside the top 75. The addition of Marcus Johansson should help Hall and New Jersey's power-play performance. It could also be a refreshing spot for Hall alongside center Nico Hischier, the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft.
Ryan O'Reilly, C, BUF (NHL.com: 103; Yahoo ADP: 144.7)
O'Reilly is a beast in leagues that
count faceoff wins
and is a part of the Buffalo Sabres' top-six forward group and loaded power-play arsenal. He has scored at least 55 points in each of the past four seasons and could do even more damage if he finally stays healthy for a full season.
Henrik Zetterberg, C/LW, DET (NHL.com: 120; Yahoo ADP: 158.1)
The Detroit Red Wings, for the first time in decades, are not expected to be a postseason contender entering a new season. That said, it's amazing to see how many people are passing on Zetterberg, who had 68 points (17 goals, 51 assists) last season for one of the League's worst power plays (15.1 percent; 27th in NHL). Any improvement in that area could put Zetterberg back in the 70-point range, especially if fellow fantasy bargain Anthony Mantha (ADP: 166.3) breaks out.

Matt Duchene, C/RW, COL (NHL.com: 160; Yahoo ADP: 161.6)
It's unclear whether Duchene will be traded before the start of the NHL season. As a fantasy owner, you can only hope he either gets back to his productive ways alongside Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog with the Colorado Avalanche or lands in a better spot with a higher ceiling. He had an NHL career-high 70 points (23 goals, 47 assists) in 2013-14 and has four NHL seasons of at least 200 SOG. There is little risk in taking a chance on him this late.
