Blue Jackets team scope

The Columbus Blue Jackets will try for their third straight win following a 7-6 overtime victory at the Ottawa Senators on Sunday in the opener of a five-game road trip. "I don't think we played nearly as well as we should have, I thought in the third period we started getting back to playing the way we are capable of playing," forward Cam Atkinson, who scored two goals against Ottawa, told the Blue Jackets website. "Just found a way to get two points, which was huge." The Blue Jackets did not practice Monday and didn't hold a morning skate Tuesday. Defenseman Zach Werenski left the game Sunday in the third period after blocking a shot by Erik Karlsson and was unable to put weight on his leg, but later returned. He will be in the lineup. "I was 100 percent sure [my foot] was broken," Werenski said. "I thought for sure it was long term, but it's just one of those things where in the moment it feels worse than it really is."

Islanders team scope

Andrew Ladd will return for the New York Islanders after missing the past four games because of an upper-body injury. "I'll definitely try to inject some energy, some emotion into getting back into the lineup and just wanting to be a part of winning some hockey games," Ladd said after the morning skate. "I'm excited to get back in there." The Islanders are 3-0-1 in their past four games after a 3-2 overtime loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday; they trail Philadelphia by five points (with one game in hand) for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference. "We're starting to believe the playoffs might be a reality," defenseman Calvin de Haan said. "Obviously there's a lot of teams we have to jump and we might need some luck from certain teams to beat other teams to give us a chance. But we have to control what we can control, and I think the past month and a-half, two months, we've been playing some really good hockey."
