Carrick, who stands at five-foot-11 and 192 pounds, has spent the last three seasons with the New Jersey Devils organization. He scored one goal and added an assist in 11 games with New Jersey last season and had six assists in 13 games played with New Jersey's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Binghamton Devils.
The 27-year-old has totaled 49 points (13 goals, 36 assists) in 241 career NHL games with the Washington Capitals (2013-14, 2015-16), Toronto Maple Leafs (2015-16 to 2017-18), Dallas Stars (2018-19) and New Jersey Devils (2018-19 to 2020-21). He set career highs during the 2017-18 season in goals (4), assists (8) and points (12) in 47 games played for the Leafs. Carrick has also recorded 83 points (20 goals, 63 assists) in 158 AHL and was tapped to play in the AHL All-Star Game in both 2015 and 2016.
Prior to making his professional debut, Carrick spent the 2012-13 season with the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), posting 44 points (12 goals, 32 assists) in 68 games, ranking second in scoring among the team's blueliners. A native of Orland Park, Illinois, Carrick has represented the United States at the Under-17 (2011), Under-18 (2012) and Under-20 (2013) World Junior tournaments, winning a silver medal in 2011 and a gold medal in 2012. He was originally drafted by Washington in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft.
The Seattle Kraken will play their first game in 69 days on Oct. 12 at Vegas.
