STARTING TO LOOK LIKE THE JETS
The Jets may have dropped a 6-5 shootout decision to the LA Kings on Tuesday on home ice but there were a lot of good signs from Winnipeg that they are about to get out of their rut. Rick Bowness felt the team was moving the puck better, hanging on to the puck and not throwing it away in the offensive zone, and spent over seven minutes in the Kings end with puck possession. Winnipeg got some offence from their blue line and their bottom six forward group so all in all, there was a lot to like from Tuesday and the hope is it will carry over into this battle with the Oilers in Edmonton tonight.

SAY MY NAMESTNIKOV
Vladislav Namestnikov is the newest member of the Jets after Kevin Cheveldayoff acquired the forward from San Jose on Friday for a fourth-round pick in 2025. Namestnikov can play all three forward positions, will help out the bottom six and can also join the top six every once in a while. He also can kill penalties and contribute on the power play. The 30-year-old will not play tonight against the Oilers. As for the lineup this evening, Pierre-Luc Dubois is a game time decision. David Gustafsson has been activated from injured reserve and will play tonight if Dubois can't go.
THE ULTIMATE CHALLENGE
The Jets will face the Oilers for the first time since December 31 and walked out of Rogers Place with a 2-1 win. The Jets shut down Connor McDavid that night ending a 17-game point streak and will face the NHL's leading scorer on back-to-back nights. McDavid had his fifth consecutive multi-goal game on Wednesday. McDavid became the fifth player in NHL history to have such a run. Joe Malone (1921), Punch Broadbent (1922), Alexander Mogilny (1993) and Mario Lemieux (1989) are the others.
