GOAL SURGE
After scoring 12 goals over an eight-game stretch in which they went 3-5, the Jets have poured in 12 goals during the first two games of their five game homestand. It's the seventh time in franchise history and fourth time since relocation that Winnipeg has had at least six goals in consecutive games. The Jets franchise has never scored six goals in three consecutive games, which has happened twice in the NHL this season (NY Rangers (Feb. 10-15) and St. Louis (Mar. 25-28)).

BIGGEST GAME OF THE YEAR
It's not the Smythe Division days but that doesn't take away the importance of tonight's clash between two Canadian rivals. The Jets hold a two-point advantage over the Flames with a game in hand after Calgary lost 4-3 to Chicago last night at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Jets defenceman Neal Pionk said the Flames play a playoff style game and they will have to be ready to match the Flames intensity right from the drop of the puck. Winnipeg has done a great job taking advantage of the fact that both Detroit and New Jersey had played the night before so far on this homestand. It's important that the Jets try to replicate their starts from the Red Wings and Devils contests.
MAENALANEN IN
Only one change to the lineup for Rick Bowness and that will see is Saku Maenalanen in for Karson Kuhlman on the fourth line. Maenalanen is one of the Jets top penalty killers and also provides some much-needed size for a game against the Flames. Calgary's defencemen are big, and it is important to have some size to get to the front of the net and get traffic in front of either Dan Vladar or Jacob Markstrom. Darryl Sutter has yet to name his starting goaltender after Markstrom started against the Blackhawks last night in Calgary.
