After a day off, the New York Islanders returned to the ice for training camp Thursday. The team changed the practice groups, going from three to two, with
15 players heading to Bridgeport training camp, while one player was sent to junior
. The Islanders also started practicing special teams for the first time this camp.

Group One:
Koivula Skates

Otto Koivula hit the ice for the first time in training camp this season. Koivula missed the first week of camp with an undisclosed injury. Koivula scored two assists in eight NHL games last year, and 12 goals and 35 assists in 56 games in Bridgeport last season.

Group Two:
Sebastian Aho "Unavailable" on Thursday

Sebastian Aho missed both skates on Thursday and was deemed unavailable by Head Coach Lane Lambert. He'll be evaulated to determine his status for Friday.
