The Playoffs So Far...

  • Round 1: Carolina raced out to a 3-1 series lead before taking a thrilling double-overtime victory in Game 5 to oust the New Jersey Devils.
  • Round 2: Despite not having home-ice advantage, the Canes again won three of the first four games against Washington before a decisive Game 5, during which a late dagger from Andrei Svechnikov decided the series for Carolina.

The Series So Far...

  • Game 1: Carolina "made too many mistakes" in a 5-2 loss.

Bouncing Back...

  • The Hurricanes are 2-0 in games following losses this postseason, outscoring opponents 9-2 and recording one shutout in those contests.
  • Rod Brind'Amour and crew felt good overall about the effort they put together in Game 1, but didn't love their lack of execution and unnecessary trips to the penalty box, which resulted directly in Florida goals.

Jumping Jarvy...

  • With an assist on Jackson Blake's power-play goal on Tuesday, Seth Jarvis now has points in five consecutive postseason games, a career-high.
  • Leading the team with 12 points in 11 games during these Stanley Cup Playoffs, tonight will be the 23-year-old's 52nd postseason game of his young NHL career.

In Net...

  • Frederik Andersen allowed more than two goals in regulation for the first time this postseason in Game 1, allowing five goals on 20 Florida shots.
  • In Andersen's previous two losses this postseason, he has responded well, going 2-0, including a 21-save shutout against Washington in Game 3 of their second-round series.

On The Other Side...

  • Despite the win in Game 1, Florida's Paul Maurice said he didn't love his team's game, but he understood it. Isn't that ironic? Calling it a "significant style change," the Cats got a strong performance out of Sergei Bobrovsky, who faced 33 shots, the most he's seen in any game thus far this postseason.
  • Florida's depth was also on display in the victory, with Tomas Nosek winning a team-high 10 faceoffs and recording a pair of assists. Jonah Gadjovich had a team-high eight hits.
  • Scoring twice on the power play, the series-opener was just the second time in the playoffs that the Panthers have recorded multiple goals on the man advantage, joining Round 1, Game 1 against Tampa Bay, where they went 3-for-3.
  • Teams that win Game 1 of a best-of-seven series own an all-time series record of 534-250.

Injury Updates

  • Defenseman Jalen Chatfield missed Game 5 against Washington and did not play in Game 1 to start the series against Florida. Yesterday Rod Brind'Amour said that the right-handed defenseman was feeling better, but still needed to be medically cleared.
  • Forward Mark Jankowski left Game 1 of the second round with an undisclosed injury, and while he has not yet returned to game action, he has been practicing with the team.
  • Forward Jesper Fast was ruled out for the 2024-25 season in August after having neck surgery.

What Are We Wearing?

  • The Canes will wear their black uniforms at home throughout the postseason.
