COMING IN

This is the first match-up of the season between the Hurricanes and Flames. These teams will see each other two times this season. The Flames and Hurricanes spilt last year's season series 1-1. This is the second time Calgary will play an Eastern Conference opponent this season.

FLAMES FIRST

Two new Flames got their name on the scoresheet for the first time this season in Saturday's win over the Canucks. Defenceman Travis Hamonic scored his first goal in the second period, while Jaromir Jagr also notched his first point as a Flame with an assist on Johnny Gaudreau 's marker.

ONE AWAY

Flames goaltender Mike Smith is one win away from 200 career victories. Smith has won four of his first six games in a Flames jersey, posting an impressive .929 SV% and a 2.59 GAA. Smith had 128 wins as a member of the Coyotes (2011/12 - 2016/17), 43 wins as a member of Tampa Bay (2007/08 - 2010/11), and 24 wins as a member of the Dallas Stars (2006/07 - 2007/08).

HOT START

This is the Flames best start to a season since 2009-10, when the team went 4-1-0-1 in their first six contests. Sean Monahan and Gaudreau have been hot early, as Monahan leads the team in goals with three and Gaudreau leads the team in assists with seven. Smith has also been outstanding early with 196 saves on 211 shots and one shutout.

  • Jagr has notched more points against the Carolina Hurricanes (incl. Hartford) (121, 39G - 82A) over his career than any other team in the league. Jagr also enjoys his second highest points-per-game average (1.36) against the Hurricanes.
