The Ducks open the season with an all-time record of 819-686-233…Anaheim has won four consecutive Pacific Division titles, posted three straight seasons with 100-plus points and reached the Stanley Cup Playoffs in nine of the last 11 seasons… Anaheim's October schedule features nine regular-season games, tied for the fewest in an opening month in club history (also 1998-99)…the Ducks' three home games in October also match 1998-99 as the team's fewest played in the first month of a season…with the exceptions of the 1994-95 and 2012-13 lockout shortened seasons, Anaheim's Oct. 13 Season Opener in Dallas will be the latest such game on the calendar in franchise history.
Randy Carlyle returns to the bench for the Anaheim Ducks, his second stint as Head Coach for the franchise…with an all-time record of 364-260-80 for Anaheim (2005-11) and Toronto (2011-15), Carlyle (1,055 games played/704 games coached) joins Red Kelly (1,316 GP/742 GC) and Bob Pulford (1,079 GP/829 GC) as the only three in NHL history to play 1,000 career NHL games and serve as head coach for 700 career contests…Carlyle is the team's all-time winningest head coach, earning a 273-182-61 record from 2005-11…he made two trips to the Conference Finals (2006 & 2007) and became the first coach to lead a California team to the Stanley Cup (2007)…under Carlyle, the Ducks won a club-record 36 playoff games during his Anaheim tenure and went 11-6 in playoff elimination games…only one NHL coach had earned more postseason wins than Carlyle's 36 from 2006-11 (Mike Babcock).
Eight members of the Ducks organization participated in the recently-completed 2016 World Cup of Hockey, including Team Canada winners Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry…Perry became just the second player in hockey history to win six separate major international trophies, joining Hall of Famer Scott Niedermayer…along with the "Triple Gold Membership" comprised of the Olympic gold (2010, 2014), World Championship gold (2016), and a Stanley Cup championship (2007 with Anaheim), Perry also won a gold medal at the World Junior Championship (2005) and captured the 2005 Memorial Cup (London)… in total, the Ducks were represented by seven players from five teams, along with Ducks Executive Vice President/General Manager Bob Murray (Assistant GM, Canada)…along with Getzlaf and Perry, the Ducks had Ryan Kesler (United States), Hampus Lindholm (Sweden), Jakob Silfverberg (Sweden), Sami Vatanen (Finland) and John Gibson (North America) participate in the tournament…Rickard Rakell was scheduled to play for Sweden, but sat out due to illness.
2015-16 Regular Season In Review:The Ducks finished the 2015-16 regular season 46-25-11 for 103 points, ranking first in the Pacific Division, fourth in the Western Conference and sixth in the NHL…it marked the third consecutive year the club posted 100-plus points, joining St. Louis and Chicago as the only NHL teams to do so from 2013-16…the Ducks won their fourth consecutive division title on the last day of the season with a 2-0 victory over Washington…Anaheim became the first NHL team to win four division titles in a row since Vancouver won five straight (Northwest Division) from 2009-2013…the Ducks joined San Jose (2007-11) as the only two franchises to win the Pacific Division title four years in a row since the division's creation in 1993-94…the Ducks won the division after trailing by 16 points at the halfway point of the season (41 games on Jan. 12), becoming the first team to erase such a deficit at the halfway point since New Jersey in 2005-06 (trailed Philadelphia by 19 points through 41 games).
