Sustr

The Ducks have claimed defenseman Andrej Sustr on waivers from the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Sustr, 31 (11/29/90), has appeared in 338 career NHL games with Tampa Bay (2012-18 and 2021-22) and Anaheim (2018-19), recording 11-53=64 points with 153 penalty minutes (PIM). The 6-7, 217-pound blueliner scored one goal with six PIM in 15 games with the Lightning this season. He appeared in five games with the Ducks in 2018-19 after signing a one-year contract with the club as a free agent July 5, 2018.
Sustr was a member of the 2015 Tampa Bay team that advanced to the Stanley Cup Final vs. Chicago, appearing in all 26 playoff games (1-1=2 points, +4 rating). He set regular-season career highs in goals (4), assists (17) and points (21) in 2015-16, and established a personal best in games played in 2016-17 (80). He also spent two seasons with Kunlun Red Star of the KHL from 2019-21, recording 13 points (0-13=13) and 73 PIM in 99 games.
A native of Plzen, Czech Republic, Sustr represented his country at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey and the 2010 World Junior Championship. Prior to beginning his career with Tampa Bay, Sustr played three collegiate seasons with the University of Nebraska Omaha of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) from 2010-13. He appeared in 111 career WCHA games with the Mavericks, recording 15-36=51 points with a +19 rating.
