The Habs have been on the wrong side of a string of close games of late, most recently on Thursday, falling 2-0 to the Chicago Blackhawks.
Montreal was held off the scoresheet for a third time this season in the loss; Jake Allen made 23 saves in his sixth-straight start.

Friday was a travel day for the Canadiens and the team did not practice. Head coach Dominique Ducharme confirmed the changes to his lineup at Saturday's morning skate in St. Louis.
Joel Armia returns to the lineup after missing two games to injury and Jake Evans will sit out due to an injury sustained in the first period of Thursday's game-the latter will be re-evaluated daily.
Laurent Dauphin will shift to center in Evans' absence.
In goal, Allen will make a seventh-consecutive start, marking the first time he faces his former club since being acquired by the Canadiens in September 2020.
At the other end of the ice, the Habs visit a Blues team currently enjoying a six-game winning streak at the Enterprise Center.
The Blues' home success continued Thursday as St. Louis topped Detroit in a 6-2 win which saw Nathan Walker score his first career hat trick in his first game of the season.
Former Canadiens goaltender Charlie Lindgren made 29 saves and earned his second win in as many games with the Blues.
Lindgren could get the start again on Saturday with Jordan Binnington in COVID-19 protocol and Ville Husso among several Blues sidelined by injury.
Forward David Perron has been out since Nov. 26, but it remains to be seen whether the Sherbrooke, QC will return to action against the Habs after resuming practice this week.
