Numbers Game: Canadiens @ Capitals

WASHINGTON - Here's a numerical look at Thursday night's game against the Capitals at Capital One Arena.

183 - The Canadiens have been supremely disciplined of late. Until Shea Weber was sent off for interference in the second period on Thursday, the last time a Montreal player headed to the sin bin was last Thursday in Columbus when Andrew Shaw was called for interference himself in the second period. That amounts to 183:08 without a single man in the box for the Habs, the equivalent of more than three full games.
20 - The captain evened the score in the first period after Nicklas Backstrom gave the Caps the lead late in the period. It was the 203rd goal of his career, moving him into a tie for 20th all-time in goals among defensemen. Weber scored the goal on the power play, marking the 99th time in his career the veteran defenseman has scored with the man advantage. It was the 33-year-old's fifth power play goal of the season and 14th tally of 2018-19.

5 - With an assist on Weber's first-period goal, Phillip Danault extended his points streak to five games. During the stretch, the Victoriaville native has one goal and four assists. Danault has already set new career highs this season with 41 helpers and 53 points.
29 - After allowing a combined nine goals in the first two games against Washington back in November, Carey Price was brilliant in the final meeting of the season between the two teams. The 31-year-old backstop made some brilliant stops to keep his team in the game, finishing the night with 29 saves on the night.

1 - After tonight's game, the Canadiens have one date left on the 2018-19 regular season schedule: a dance with the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Bell Centre on Saturday night. The Habs' playoff hopes hang in the balance and will rest partly on the result of Friday night's game between the Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. If the Jackets win, they'll end the Habs' chances at joining the postseason, as Columbus holds the edge in a tiebreaker with Montreal. If the Jackets lose - even in extra time - then the Canadiens could punch a ticket to the big dance, but they'll need a win against the Leafs and for the Jackets to finish with fewer points than them after the 82-game schedule comes to a close.
