The National Hockey League announced today that Boston Bruins forward Pavel Zacha has been named the NHL Third Star of the Month for March.
Zacha paced all NHL skaters with 13 goals during the month of March, helping lead Boston to a 10‑3‑3 record, tied for the second‑most wins in the league during that span. He became the fourth Bruins player in the past 50 years to outright lead the NHL in goals for a calendar month. Zacha also led the league with a 37.1 percent shooting percentage (minimum 10 shots) and ranked tied for first with five power play goals.
The 28‑year‑old recorded points in 13 of Boston’s 16 games during March, including seven multi‑point performances, and closed the month on a five‑game point streak, totaling five goals and four assists for nine points in that span. He set a new career high with 28 goals and recorded his first 60‑point season with an assist in his 700th career NHL game during Boston’s home win over Dallas on March 31.
Zacha has skated in 72 games this season, ranking third on the team with 28 goals and 32 assists for 60 points. He also ranks tied for second in power play goals (10) and tied for third in game‑winning goals (four). Zacha has appeared in 700 career games with Boston and New Jersey, recording 153 goals and 249 assists for 402 points. The Brno, Czech Republic native was originally selected by New Jersey in the first round (sixth overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
