TAMPA - Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy confirmed on Thursday afternoon that David Pastrnak will miss his second consecutive game with an undisclosed injury when the Black & Gold visit the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday at Amalie Arena. Pastrnak did not take part in Thursday's practice at TGH Ice Plex and remains "day-to-day."

"No, I don't think he's [out for] a while," said Cassidy. "We listed him as day-to-day, he's still on the trip. I think if it was anything long-term, he would've gone home by now. Will he be ready Sunday? I guess when we get on the ice Saturday, if he's out there, we'll be able to give you a better idea then. But that's where he's at now."
Defenseman Hampus Lindholm, who exited Tuesday night's loss to Detroit with a lower-body injury, also sat out Thursday's practice session, though Cassidy did not rule out the blue liner for the B's tilt against Tampa.
"[The medical staff was] hoping to get him on the ice today, didn't work out that way," said Cassidy. "I know he did off-ice [training]. I won't rule him out yet."
In positive injury news, Trent Frederic returned to the ice after sitting out the B's loss to Detroit with an upper-body injury he suffered on Monday night in Columbus. The winger was back in his normal left-wing spot alongside Charlie Coyle and Craig Smith.
With Frederic back, Cassidy once again shifted some pieces around up front, reuniting the Coyle line and the fourth trio of Nick Foligno, Tomas Nosek, and Curtis Lazar. Marc McLaughlin, meanwhile, was bumped up to fill Pastrnak's spot on the second line with Taylor Hall and Erik Haula.
"We might give him a look. Wanted to see how it looked today," said Cassidy. "He's definitely a guy that can shoot the puck. Looks like he's made some small area plays. Playing with that line, there is some of that involved. He can keep up. Give them a little bit of a net-front presence as well.
"We used Nose there the other day; I wanted to keep that line together with [Jack] Studnicka because they've been practicing together, but now that Freddy's back in, that moves some people to their normal spots. Laser will go back in.
"That's the obvious hole we have with Pasta, so we'll give Marc a look there."

Cassidy talks with the media in Tampa

McLaughlin, who would be playing in just third career game, was thrilled to get a chance to slot in alongside Hall and Haula during Thursday's practice.
"Obviously two really good players, high-end skills," said McLaughlin. "Just trying to build a little chemistry if we go together [Friday night]…I think over time definitely will get a feel for it, but just going into it today, play my game, play hard, just be ready to shoot if they give it to me."
Cassidy said that McLaughlin's shot is already "NHL ready," making him natural fit to fill in for a high-volume shooter like Pastrnak.
"If you watch him shoot the puck, he can shoot the puck past the goalie on a consistent basis," said Cassidy. "That's what Pasta does, he shoots, he makes plays. Having a guy that shoots the puck, could put him in position to have some success in a higher spot in the lineup. But I think time will tell."
McLaughlin, a natural centerman, said his biggest adjustment has been getting used to playing the wing on a consistent basis.
"It's a little different responsibility than what I'm used to at center," said McLaughlin. "Luckily, I had a little bit of experience with it at the end of my BC career, and then at the Olympics I played a little wing too. There's just a commitment to winning your wall battles and being in the shot lane when their D get it at the point.
"It's just a little different responsibility but I feel like I've just been trying to learn from the coaches in that spot and the other wingers on our team. It's been going well."
Linus Ullmark will get the start on Friday against the Lightning.
