The B's have lost three of their last four games, and two in a row in regulation for the first time this season. "It's about being honest and talking about the consistency of what we've talked about all year," said coach Jim Montgomery. "What we value in the last four games, we haven't hit three of our objectives that we think are really important."
Montgomery covered all the bases with communication, and is ready to get back to the Bruins' way. "I think we just had some honest communication [Wednesday] on the plane," said Montgomery. "As a staff we talked, and then I talked to the captains and then we addressed the group today and we got a lot of feedback from them as to where we are and what's causing this malaise."
As for what may be causing the Bruins to look off beat, the time of the season does appear to be playing a role, according to Montgomery. "It coincided with the day we clinched playoffs and just players honest feedback, which I really value was, 'you know, we've never been in a situation where 20 games left and you've clinched a playoff spot,'" said Montgomery. "It's human nature to take your foot off the gas pedal. And that's what's happened to us... and we're trying to find the right message all together to put our foot back on the gas."
Patrice Bergeron also spoke with the media ahead of the matchup with the Jets on Thursday night, noting that the team just needs to get back to following the process. "Adversity is always good, it makes you stronger as a team and individually as well," said Bergeron. "I think we have to be better as far as our process, I think we got away from that...results fall in place when you take care of your process and details."
