BOSTON -The Boston Bruins and the Boston Bruins Foundation announced today that the Third Annual BFit First Responder Challenge powered by National Grid will take place Sunday, January 27, 2019 at TD Garden, starting at 9:00 a.m. This one of a kind event invites first responders from all over New England to participate in a course throughout TD Garden. The event takes place to raise awareness around health and wellness of first responders and to support The Hundred Club, Inc., a charity that supports the families of police officers and firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty. All proceeds of the BFit First Responder Challenge will be donated to The Hundred Club.

The event features three divisions, and each division will have a different starting time. The Law Enforcement division will start at 9 a.m. Law enforcement participants are encouraged (not required) to wear uniform/vest/duty belt. The Fire/EMT division will start at 10 a.m. Fire/EMT participants are encouraged (not required) to wear turnout gear. The Civilian Division will start at 11:00 a.m. This division allows civilians the chance to raise money and support their local first responders (must be 16 years or older to participate).
Participants are asked to raise a minimum of $300 in order to be eligible to participate in this event.
There will be three challenge course levels. Level One is designed for individuals with no prior fitness experience and presents a low intensity challenge for participants. Level Two will push competitors even further. Level three will challenge the most elite competitors. This year, participants will have the opportunity to the take part in the new Level 4 Rafter Run. This new part of the course will bring the most ambitious participants to the top of TD Garden. Participants are able to choose which level they would like to participate in at the event, and are welcome to complete multiple levels of the challenge course.
The winner of the police and fire divisions will be the highest fundraising team of ten individuals. The highest fundraising Law Enforcement Team (four - ten people) and highest fundraising Fire/EMT Team (four - ten people) will each receive one suite ticket to the Boston Bruins vs. San Jose Sharks game on February 26, be invited to a pregame reception, and will be awarded the BFit Cup. The highest fundraising individual (First Responder or Civilian) from the entire competition will also receive four suite tickets to the Bruins game on February 26, as well as be invited to a pregame reception.
The BFit First Responder Challenge will also feature kid friendly activities such as a "Touch a Truck" featuring local fire department and police vehicles and an ice resurfacer, the new Kid's Zone inflatable area, interactive sponsor booths on the event floor, and a chance to take a photo with Bruins mascot, Blades.
