BLUES The Philadelphia Flyers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead against the Blues on Saturday afternoon and extended it to 4-0 before the Blues got on the scoreboard.
Ivan Barbashev, Paul Stastny and Colton Parayko would score in an eventual 6-3 loss to the Flyers, putting an end to the Blues' three-game winning streak.
"You can't be trying to come back from (down) 4-0," Blues forward Kyle Brodziak said after the game. "It's too good of a League. We just waited too long today."
"One of the keys to the game was for us to start on time and we didn't," added Blues Head Coach Mike Yeo.
CAPITALS The Washington Capitals will certainly be well rested for Sunday's game.
They haven't played since Tuesday, when Ovechkin scored twice - including 1:57 into overtime - to help the Capitals to a 5-4 win against the Carolina Hurricanes.
The overtime goal was the 22nd career game-winning OT goal for Ovechkin, whose performance helped the Capitals to a third consecutive victory.
"He has a bit of a, not really a stutter-step, but he sort of pulls the puck and it sort of locks that goalie into whatever position they're in," Capitals coach Barry Trotz told NHL.com. "And then he releases it and they can't move."
The Capitals are 7-1-2 in their last 10 games and have climbed into first place in the Metropolitan Division and second overall in the Eastern Conference.
HEAD-TO-HEAD The Blues had won three straight games against the Capitals before losing the last three meetings between the clubs. Overall, the Blues are 3-2-0 against the Capitals in their last five trips to D.C. and are 8-3-0 against the Metropolitan Division this season.
