Olympic History: Blues at the Winter Games

The 2026 Winter Olympic Games are underway, and five St. Louis Blues players are competing for Gold in Milan.

Jordan Binnington and Colton Parayko are competing for Team Canada, while Philip Broberg is suiting up for Sweden. Pius Suter is representing the Blues for Team Switzerland, and Dalibor Dvorsky is making his first Olympic appearance with Team Slovakia.

Before this season, though, the Blues have a rich Olympic history. Below is a list of Olympic notes and facts involving players who wore a Blue Note while participating in the Winter Games.

DID YOU KNOW?

The "Miracle on Ice" team from 1980 played in four pre-Olympic exhibition matches against NHL teams - including one against the St. Louis Blues on Sept. 30, 1979. The game was played at a neutral site in Iowa, and the Blues cruised to a 9-1 victory.... Forward Mark Johnson, who led Team USA in 1980 with 11 points (five goals, six assists) in seven games, was a Blue during the 1984-85 season. Forward Dave Christian also played one season for the Blues, picking up 44 points in 78 games from 1991-92. Defenseman Bill Baker (1981-82) and assistant coach Craig Patrick (1974-75) also wore the Blue Note.

T.J. SOCHI

T.J. Oshie captivated the world in Sochi in 2014, when he took six of Team USA's eight shootout attempts in a preliminary game against Russia to help decide a 2-2 contest. Oshie scored on four of six attempts, and the nickname T.J. Sochi was born.
