ST. LOUIS - Marco Scandella will make his debut with the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night when the club hosts the Arizona Coyotes at Enterprise Center (7 p.m., FSMW, 101 ESPN).
Scandella was acquired in a trade with the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday after Jay Bouwmeester was placed on long-term injured reserve. He practiced with the team on Wednesday and will start on a defense pairing with Colton Parayko.
"He's a defender, big guy, plays physical, good stick," Berube said of Scandella. "Two big guys out there that we can play against anybody and be hard on the other team, hard on the top players on other teams. Bo was there for a long time with Parayko, and this is a similar fit that I see."
"I know what I have to do to be successful," Scandella said. "Just play a really good defensive game, help on the (penalty kill), do whatever I'm asked to do here and just do it with a smile on my face. I'm happy to be here, back in the Central and playing for the St. Louis Blues."
