While the Blackhawks kicked off the scoring 35 seconds into the matchup, it wouldn't be enough to try and beat the Arizona Coyotes.
Heading into the third period, the score was tied at 1-1, but the few costly turnovers only made it harder for the team to come back. Jarred Tinordi noted that the puck simply was not going their way against the Coyotes, who have now won 20 games at Mullett Arena this season.
"I think we had a couple plays where we could have just chipped it maybe behind their [defense] and make them go back for it," Tinordi said. "We didn't get it or it either hit somebody or kind of bounced up and got clogged up and made us pay for it. So, we got a little bit harder in those areas."

By the end of the night, the Blackhawks made five turnovers compared to the Coyotes' 12. However, head coach Luke Richardson stated with those giveaway chances, it allowed the creative players of Arizona only stronger.
"We didn't make many, but when we did, they're just the ones at the wrong time," Richardson said. "I think we were getting better in those areas and unfortunately, tonight, the one or two that we did make [Clayton] Keller and those type of creative players around the ice made us pay for it."

WYATT MAKES DEBUT

After joining the team on Wednesday, Wyatt Kaiser made his NHL debut tonight in a pair with Nikita Zaitsev. Although it's not the result he would have wanted, he felt that he earned a boost of confidence after playing his first shift.
"I feel like after the first shift, I'm just playing hockey," Kaiser said. "I've been doing it all my life. Whether it's at different levels, it's just hockey."
Following the matchup, Tinordi and Richardson both echoed the poised style tonight and showed he wasn't afraid to battle for the puck. The rookie defenseman finished the night with 16 minutes of ice time, one hit and one shot blocked.
"I thought it was great," Tinordi said. "I thought he looked poised. I thought he looked confident out there. He was moving the puck well."

SWEET KHAIRA LINE

In his last six games, Jujhar Khaira produced six points (1G, 5A) to add to his line's recent offensive production. He put the Blackhawks on the board within the first 35 seconds into the game to help Chicago start off strong.
