TERAVAINEN LEADS THE WAY

Teuvo Teravainen turned in his best performance of the young season on Tuesday, scoring twice and adding an assist en route to First Star of the Game honors.

The veteran forward wasted little time making an impact, opening the scoring just 28 seconds into the contest off assists from Anton Frondell and Tyler Bertuzzi. After the Penguins erased a 3-1 deficit and tied the game midway through the third period, Teravainen struck again at 15:42 to restore Chicago's lead for good.

Teravainen then picked up the secondary assist on Bertuzzi's empty-net goal with 10 seconds remaining, giving him his first three-point game of the season. Entering the night, the Finnish forward had recorded five points (1G, 4A) over his previous eight meetings with Pittsburgh.

KANTSEROV HAS A CAREER NIGHT

Three days after netting his first NHL goal, Roman Kantserov found the back of the net twice against the Penguins to earn Second Star of the Game honors.

Kantserov's first tally came on the power play late in the opening period when he converted a setup from Connor Bedard and Bowen Byram to give the Blackhawks a 2-1 advantage. He added another midway through the second period off assists from Artyom Levshunov and Patrick Kane, extending Chicago's lead to 3-1.

The two-goal outing marked the first multi-goal game of Kantserov's NHL career.

BEDARD RETURNS

After missing the club's first six games while recovering from shoulder surgery, Connor Bedard made his season debut and made an immediate impact offensively.

Bedard recorded the primary assist on Kantserov's power-play goal in the first period, collecting his first point of the season and helping Chicago convert on one of its two opportunities with the man advantage.

The 21-year-old was named the 37th captain in franchise history prior to the season and returned after leading the Blackhawks in assists (45) and points (75) during the 2025-26 campaign. Bedard earned Third Star of the Game honors in his first appearance of the season.
