BEDARD CONTINUES STRONG RETURN

After recording an assist in his season debut Tuesday against Pittsburgh, Connor Bedard found the back of the net for the first time in 2026-27 on Thursday night.

Bedard opened the scoring on the power play at 8:11 of the first period, converting a setup from Patrick Kane and Tyler Bertuzzi. The goal marked his first since being named the 37th captain in franchise history and gave him points in consecutive games to begin his season.

The tally also marked the first goal Bedard and Kane have connected on as teammates since Kane's return to Chicago this offseason.Β Bedard and Kane became just the second pair of No. 1 overall picks selected at least 15 years apart by the same franchise to factor on a goal together, joining Sidney Crosby and Mario Lemieux.

Patrick Kane continued his climb through NHL history on Thursday night, assisting on Bedard's first-period goal and then helping set up Levshunov's overtime winner.

Kane's helper on Bedard's goal was the 895th assist of his NHL career, moving him past Phil Housley for the most assists by an American-born player in league history. Kane already owns the NHL record for points by a U.S.-born player and now stands alone atop the assists list as well.
