The Blackhawks matched their biggest offensive output of the season as they got back into the win column with a 6-4 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night at the United Center.
Mattias Janmark, Dominik Kubalik, Andrew Shaw, Alex DeBrincat (x2) and Patrick Kane all scored on the night and Kevin Lankinen made 30 stops en route to his fourth win on the year.

Carolina wasted no time getting on the board as Sebastian Aho took a pass from Dougie Hamilton and put a shot from the point past traffic in front and into the net behind Lankinen just 75 seconds in.

1st - 3:17 - Mattias Janmark (Dominik Kubalik, Philipp Kurashev) - PPG

Chicago answered right back on the man advantage as Mattias Janmark netted his fourth of the season. Dominik Kubalik on the right circle feathered a pass between the legs of Jaccob Slavin and across the slot to Janmark on the left circle, where the veteran made a move towards goal before pulling the puck to his backhand and beating James Reimer in net for a 1-1 scoreline.

1st - 14:43 - Dominik Kubalik (Nicolas Beaudin, Mattias Janmark)

The power play made it 2-for-2 on its second try of the night as the setup man on the opening tally became the goal scorer on the second. Mattias Janmark sent a puck across the point to setup Nicolas Beaudin for a one-time effort, but the rookie whiffed on the chance, deflecting the puck to the top of the circle for Dominik Kubalik in the process. The reigning rookie goal leader fired a slap shot past a Pius Suter screen in front and in for a 2-1 advantage.

1st - 19:53 - Andrew Shaw (Patrick Kane, Dominik Kubalik)

Andrew Shaw got in on the opening-frame power-play party with seven seconds left on the clock, converting a centering feed from Patrick Kane in the slot for his second of the season. Dominik Kubalik started the score by finding Kane, adding his third point of the period in the process.

2nd - 0:42 - Nino Neiderreiter (Martin Necas, Jaccob Slavin)

The Hurricanes answered quickly in the second with another early-period goal. Jaccob Slavin put a shot from the point towards goal that Martin Necas tipped on the way through. Kevin Lankinen made the initial stop, but the rebound fell right to Nino Neiderreiter in front for the quick tally to cut it to 3-2.

2nd - 0:50 - Andrei Svechnikov (Dougie Hamilton)

Just eight seconds later, the Hurricanes tied the game as Dougie Hamilton walked down the wall off the ensuing faceoff and fired a shot on net from out wide, with the pad save from Kevin Lankinen directing right to Andrei Svechnikov on the far side for the easy goal into the open net.

Patrick Kane, fresh out of the box following a penalty, broke into the zone on a one-on-one with Jaccob Slavin and dropped his shoulder to fend off the defender while putting a one-handed backhand shot on net. James Reimer made the stop, but was run over by Slavin off the rush, knocking the puck across the goal line in the process.

3rd - 5:25 - Brock McGinn (Sebastian Aho, Brett Pesce)

Carolina answered right back a few minutes later as Brock McGinn netted his second of the season. Brett Pesce funneled a put from the point to behind the net to Sebastian Aho, who circled the cage and fed McGinn out front for a one-timer to equalize, 4-4.

3rd - 12:22 - Alex DeBrincat (Pius Suter, Patrick Kane)

The back-and-forth affair continued as Chicago pulled ahead for the third time on the night just past the midway point of the third period. Patrick Kane flipped a puck from behind the net to Pius Suter in front, where the rookie gloved down the feed and put an in-tight shot towards goal that James Reimer turned aside, but right into the lane of Alex DeBrincat for the rebound put-back and a 5-4 lead.
