For the first time in franchise history, the Seattle Thunderbirds will compete in the Memorial Cup Championship after a 4-1 win over the Peterborough Petes on Friday night.

After remaining scoreless through the first period, the Thunderbirds struck first early in the second to put themselves on the board and maintain an early lead. At the start of the third period, Blackhawks prospect Colton Dach put the team up 2-0 that would be recorded as the game-winning goal. He now has two goals in four games in the tournament.

Fellow Blackhawks prospect Kevin Korchinski snapped his point streak where he produced three assists in three straight games. He ended the night as a plus-three.

Nolan Allan, Chicago's first round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, put three shots on goal and received a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct in the first period. He has two goals in four games.

The championship match will take place on Sunday evening with a 6 p.m. CT puck drop against the Quebec Remparts. The game will be broadcasted on the NHL Network in the United States as well as on TSN and RDS in Canada.
