In the first game of the Memorial Cup tournament, the Seattle Thunderbirds came out on top with a 6-3 victory over the Peterborough Petes on Saturday night. They now lead the tournament at 1-0-0-0.

Peterbourough kicked the scoring off in the first period, but Seattle quickly recovered in the second to keep the score even at 2-2. Blackhawks prospect Nolan Allan secured the team's lead at 4-2 in the third period with his first point of the contest.

Fellow Blackhawks prospect and blueliner Kevin Korchinski also posted his first point of the tournament with an assist on the team's fifth goal of the night with under 4 minutes remaining in the game. He ended the night with one assist and three shots on goal.

As for Colton Dach, he ended the game as a plus-two with two shots on goal and went 5-for-10 on faceoffs.

Seattle will play against on Monday evening against the Quebec Remparts with an 8 p.m. CT puck drop in the second matchup of the tournament.
