On April 1, 2008, the Blackhawks announced the team would broadcast all 82 of their games in the 2008–09 season, a first in franchise history. Aside from network telecasts, the Blackhawks had not offered a regular package of road games on broadcast television since the early 1980s.

On April 1, 1968, Stan Mikita won the Art Ross Trophy for regular season scoring champion, logging 87 points (40G, 47A) in 72 regular-season games. It was his fourth time winning the award.
