About the Stars
The Stars (9-8-5) defeated Vancouver, 2-1, Friday at American Airlines Center. Antti Niemi stopped 30 shots and defenseman Esa Lindell scored his first NHL goal and also picked up an assist. Radek Faksa also scored for the Stars, who bounced back from a 5-2 loss from Nashville in their previous game.
"I think we played really good," said Stars defenseman John Klingberg. "We got two points, which is what we wanted. We've got some stuff to work on, but it is huge for us to get two points and get some confidence going."
The Stars improved to 5-2-2 over their past nine games.
Dallas recalled D Stephen Johns from Texas (AHL) on Sunday. Johns played two games with Texas, scoring three goals.
D Johnny Oduya (lower body) and RW Jiri Hudler (illness) skated before Sunday's practice in Frisco, but Stars coach Lindy Ruff said neither player was expected to travel with the team to St. Louis.
Monday's game opens a four-game road trip for the Stars who will also play at Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Colorado.
Injuries: D Johnny Oduya (lower body), RW Jiri Hudler (illness), C/LW Mattias Janmark (knee) and RW Ales Hemsky (hip) are on injured reserve.
