I think that maybe we're onto something big

• After a four-game road trip, the Stars are back home to face the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night at American Airlines Center for the second of three meetings this season. The clubs will conclude the season series on April 20 in Edmonton.
• Dallas defeated Edmonton 4-1 in the series opener on Nov. 23 at AAC. John Klingberg led the Stars with three points (all assists), and Luke Glendening, Jason Robertson, Roope Hintz and Denis Gurianov contributed a goal apiece. Jake Oettinger stopped 21 of 22 shots in the win.
• The Stars tallied two power-play goals in the first period that night, going 2-for-5 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.
• The Stars have earned points in eight of their last nine games against the Oilers (6-1-2), scoring four or more goals in five of them.
• Dallas has points in 17 of its last 22 against the Oilers, posting a record of 13-5-4 over that span.
• The Stars also have a record of 4-1-1 in their last six games against the Oilers at home, outscoring them 21-10 over that span. Additionally, the Stars have earned at least a point in 22 of their last 26 games vs. Edmonton on home ice (19-4-3), dating back to the 2005-06 season.
• In their last 10 home contests against the Oilers, the Stars have gone 9-for-35 (25.7%) on the power play and 25-for-31 (80.7%) on the penalty kill.
• Captain Jamie Benn has earned 11 points (seven goals, four assists) in his last 11 games against Edmonton on home ice. Within that span, he scored a goal in six consecutive home games against the Oilers from Oct. 13, 2015-Dec. 3, 2018. Benn has 34 points (20 goals, 14 assists) in 35 career games against Edmonton.
Alexander Radulov has points in three straight (three assists) and in five of his last six (one goal, four assists) against the Oilers. He's earned 13 points (four goals, nine assists) in his last 10 against them, while also earning points in six straight games vs. Edmonton on home ice (two goals, seven assists).
Tyler Seguin has five points (two goals, three assists) in his last five games against Edmonton and 22 points (nine goals, 13 assists) in 23 career appearances against them.
Joe Pavelski leads the Stars with 24 goals, 30 assists and 54 points in 58 games against the Oilers, his second highest point total against any opponent. Pavelski's tallied multiple points in 12 games against the Oilers and has earned three or more points five times, tied for his highest total against any opponent.
• Klingberg has tallied four points (one goal, three assists) in his last two games against Edmonton at American Airlines Center. He's earned a point in all but one of his nine career home games against the Oilers, totaling 13 points (three goals, 10 assists).

• On Sunday night, the Stars acquired goaltender Scott Wedgewood from Arizona in exchange for a conditional fourth-round selection in the 2023 NHL Draft. If the Stars qualify for the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs, then the selection turns into Dallas' third-round pick in the 2023 draft.
• Wedgewood, 29, has appeared in 29 NHL contests during the 2021-22 campaign with Arizona and New Jersey. In total, he's earned a 10-14-3 record with a 3.16 goals-against average and .909 save percentage.
• With Arizona this season, he appeared in 26 games and earned a 10-12-2 record, 3.16 GAA and .911 SV%.
• The 6-foot-2, 205-pound native of Brampton, Ontario has appeared in 69 career NHL contests with New Jersey and Arizona, posting a 20-32-11 record, 3.11 GAA, .905 SV% and four shutouts.
• Originally selected by New Jersey in the third round (84th overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft, Wedgewood was claimed off waivers by Arizona on Nov. 4, 2021.

A bold bright beacon blinking red

• The Stars also acquired forward Vladislav Namestnikov via trade from Detroit in exchange for a fourth-round selection in the 2024 NHL Draft on Monday. Detroit retained 50% of Namestnikov's salary for the remainder of the 2021-22 season.
• Namestnikov, 29, has recorded 25 points (13 goals, 12 assists) in 60 games with Detroit this season. The forward ranked fifth on Detroit in goals (including one shorthanded tally) and was one of three Red Wings players to score a shorty during the 2021-22 campaign.
• He ranked third among Red Wings forwards with 32 blocked shots and fourth among team forwards with an average shorthanded time on ice per game of 1:37.
• Namestnikov's registered 231 points (104 goals, 127 assists) in 538 career regular-season NHL games with Tampa Bay, the New York Rangers, Ottawa, Colorado and Detroit.
• The nine-season NHL veteran has also made three appearances in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, earning nine points (five goals, four assists) and 59 hits in 41 career postseason games.
• On the international stage, Namestnikov won the bronze medal at the 2017 IIHF World Championship, logging six points (three goals, three assists) in 10 tournament games with Team Russia.
• The 6-0, 180-pound native of Zhukovskiy, Russia was originally selected by Tampa Bay in the first round (27th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.
