Saving their best work for crunch time, the Stars pulled off a stunning 3-2 overtime victory against the Winnipeg Jets at American Airlines Center on a frigid night in Dallas on Wednesday.

Down by a goal with 6:25 remaining in the third period, Denis Gurianov scored a crucial equalizer to keep the Stars alive. Then, just 54 seconds into sudden death, and moments after Jake Oettinger made a game-saving stop at the other end, Tyler Seguin's mid-air tap-in off his own rebound crossed the stripe just enough to give the Stars a huge comeback win and two enormous points in the standings.

It was a sequence that needed to be reviewed because of how quickly it went down. After a brief video session, the call was a good goal.
The Stars got back into the win column, improving their record this season to 28-20-2. They're just one point behind the Edmonton Oilers for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference and four behind their next opponent - the Nashville Predators.
For the 10,098 that braved the icy road conditions to get to the arena, they were treated to yet another bit of excellence from Oettinger. The 23-year-old, who a few days ago earned the NHL's Third Star of the Week honor, was terrific in goal, stopping 20 of 22 shots, including a huge save on Josh Morrissey in overtime.
Oettinger has now earned wins in five of his last six (5-1-0) appearances and boosted his record to 16-6-0 overall this season.
Gurianov's game-tying marker snapped a 15-game drought with a beautiful backdoor finish on a crisp pass from Seguin.

Jamie Benn got the Stars on the board with his 13th career shorthanded goal in the closing minutes of the middle frame to even the score, 1-1. Benn finished the game with three points and a +3 rating. His performance Wednesday gave him points in nine straight home games against the Jets (eight goals, eight assists) and 39 points (18 goals, 21 assists) in 37 career games against them in his career.

Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele gave the Jets 1-0 and 2-1 leads, respectively, but lost for the second consecutive game. The Jets now find themselves five points behind the Stars in the standings. Connor Hellebuyck was peppered all night and finished with 36 saves on 39 shots.
Dallas improved to 2-1-0 vs. Winnipeg this season, including a 2-0 mark at American Airlines Center. The Stars have also earned points in four consecutive games against the Jets (3-0-1) and have points in eight of the last nine against them (6-1-2).
The Stars will conclude their back-to-back set on Thursday in Nashville.
