The Sharks are back on the road for a three-game road trip extending into the New Year. Tonight, Team Teal kicks things off in Edmonton for some daytime hockey.
Last game, the Sharks beat the Anaheim Ducks 4-2 in the first game back from a three-day break. With the win, the Sharks improved to 6-2-3 against Pacific division teams. Brent Burns appeared in his 1,000th career NHL game and scored the game-winning goal to become the third defenseman in NHL history to score the winning goal in his 1,000th career game. Barclay Goodrow (0g, 3a) led all skaters in assists and points for his second career multi-assist game. Tomas Hertl earned his 200th career point with his empty-net goal in the third period.
Tonight the Sharks face the Edmonton Oilers for the second time this year. Last meeting on November 20 at SAP Center, the Sharks fell 4-3 in overtime. Joonas Donskoi, Marcus Sorensen and Logan Couture scored in the game. Brent Burns became the first defenseman to 20 assists this season with his assist on Donskoi's goal. The Sharks have won three of the previous four games against Edmonton. Entering tonight, the Sharks look to extend their road winning streak to four games (3-0-0).
