If you want a glimpse of the Ottawa Senators' future, their sweep of the Montreal Canadiens offered a promising look ahead.

The Sens collected wins Sunday and Tuesday in large part due to the team's promising youthful core.
"The experience they're getting of playing in overtime, but not only are they playing, they're making plays and they're starting to arrive in the league," head coach D.J. Smith said.
Drake Batherson and Brady Tkachuk each had four points over the two games while Erik Brannstrom, Josh Norris and Artem Zub each registered multiple points.
Thomas Chabot, Tim Stützle and Colin White each had an assist while Stützle also scored in Tuesday's shootout, as did Norris.
And incredibly, the last eight goals the Senators have scored have all been by players 22 or younger, tied for the sixth longest streak in NHL history since 1990-91.
"The boys are fired up," Batherson said. "That's a big two wins for us."
Tkachuk had the overtime winner Sunday and then followed it up with a pair of goals in Tuesday's shootout win all while getting his teeth knocked around due to a high stick. He also became the youngest Senator in franchise history to score 50 goals at age 21 years, 160 days.
"The morale has been great in the room," Batherson said. "Everyone is cheering each other on on the bench. I think it goes to show the guys in our locker room, everyone loves each other, we're playing hard for each other and it's nice to get rewarded."
For the second time in his career, Batherson recorded back-to-back multi-point games while Brannstrom buried his first career NHL goal in Tuesday's win.
And then there's the rookies. It was the second time already this season that Zub has recorded back-to-back games with at least one point while Norris and Stützle continue to shine in the rookie scoring race.
Norris sits second with 12 points while Stützle is fourth with 10. They also both buried their first career shootout goals, on their first career attempts, to give the Sens the two points Tuesday.
"This little two game stretch was really big for our team," Norris said.
