The Ottawa Senators were beaten 8-5 by the Edmonton Oilers Sunday night in Alberta.

Colin White, Brady Tkachuk, Drake Batherson, Tim Stützle and Austin Watson had goals for the Sens while Edmonton's Leon Draisaitl had six points and Connor McDavid tallied five points as the Oilers scored four power play goals.
Ottawa fell behind just eight seconds into the game as off of a faceoff, Dominik Kahun's shot hit the stick of Josh Norris and beat Matt Murray. James Neal made it 2-0 on the man advantage at 4:15 before Ottawa got on the board through Colin White's first of the season as he brilliantly swatted the puck out of mid-air at 5:38.
Edmonton pushed its lead to four goals over the course of 6:22 as Tyson Barrie and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored power play goals either side of Neal's second of the night to make it a 5-1 game at 13:42. Murray was pulled after Barrie's goal at 7:20 and replaced by Marcus Hogberg.
The Senators got some life in the final stages of the first thanks to a pair of goals. Tkachuk's third of the year came at 16:06 as he fired in from the slot past Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner, who was making his NHL debut, while Batherson notched his first of the season on the power play 1:32 later.
McDavid's first of the night came 42 seconds into the second period on the power play while Darnell Nurse pushed the lead to 7-3 at 11:31. Kailer Yamamoto scored with 17 seconds remaining to make it a five-goal game after 40.
The Senators accounted for the only scoring in the third and both goals came within a 47-second span. Stützle got his second goal of the season as he flew down the left wing before beating Skinner over his left shoulder on the man advantage at 8:08. Watson's third of the campaign came as he turned and fired from the top of the slot through traffic to make it 8-5.
Senators defenceman Artem Zub made his NHL debut tonight and had the secondary assist on Tkachuk's goal.
Hogberg made 17 saves in relief for Murray who had turned away six shots. Tkachuk and White both had two-point games as they each added an assist to go along with their goals.
Ottawa and Edmonton will square off again Tuesday night at 10 p.m.
