AT THE HORN

The Buffalo Sabres beat the Florida Panthers, 5-3, on Monday at KeyBank Center.

A back-and-forth contest saw Noah Östlund give Buffalo the lead for good with 12:45 remaining in the third period – the Sabres’ second power-play goal of the afternoon. Tage Thompson then added on to give the Sabres (3-3-0) their first multi-goal lead in six games.

Forwards Josh Doan and Ryan McLeod both scored their first goals of the season, and Olen Zellweger picked up his first Sabres point with a primary assist to McLeod.

Colten Ellis started in net for Buffalo – his third start in the last four games – but was pulled after allowing two goals on nine shots. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen entered and stopped 13 of 14 shots for the win.

Rasmus Dahlin scored a goal, his second, before exiting with an upper-body injury, last leaving the ice with 16:16 remaining in the second period. He's considered day to day and won't play Tuesday in Montreal.
