SHORTY - New York scored its eighth shorthanded goal of the season, tied for the ninth most in the NHL. The Rangers' eight shorthanded tallies are equal to their totals from the last two seasons. The Blueshirts went 2-for-2 on the penalty kill and have been perfect on the penalty kill in 12 of their last 13 games.
THREE'S A CROWD - The Rangers have scored three or more goals in six of their last seven games and 10 of their last 12 contests. Since March 22, the Blueshirts have scored 62 goals in 18 games.
HITS AND BLOCKS - New York outhit the Canadiens, 21-11 and led in the blocked shots categories with a 16-11 edge. On the year, the Rangers' 2,079 hits rank fifth in the NHL and their 1,151 blocked shots are tied for the ninth most in the league.
ROD GILBERT "MR. RANGER" AWARD - In a pregame ceremony, Chris Kreider was named the winner of the first annual Rod Gilbert "Mr. Ranger" Award, given to the Rangers player "who best honors Rod's legacy by exemplifying leadership qualities both on and off the ice, and making a significant humanitarian contribution to his community." His hard work and dedication on as well as off the ice comes with great impact for thousands of children, which he supports through the Garden of Dreams Foundation (GDF), Hockey Fights Cancer, Hockey is for Everyone, Season of Giving and Essential Worker Night in arena.

  • Frank Vatrano scored his eighth goal in 21 games for the Rangers and has points in six of his last 10 games (3G-3A). Since Vatrano made his New York debut on March 17, his eight goals are tied with Andrew Copp for the second most on the team behind Chris Kreider (13).
    - Ryan Strome scored his 21st goal of the season and first shorthanded. It was Strome's second career shorthanded tally and first since December 2, 2014 with the Islanders. Strome has four goals and an assist in his last five games.
    - Barclay Goodrowcollected his 19th and 20th assists of the season, establishing a career-high in assists. Goodrow has set career-highs in goals (13), assists (20) and points (33) this season. Goodrow has seven assists/points in his last seven games. Tonight was Goodrow's sixth multi-point game of the season and third in April. Goodrow leads the Rangers in shorthanded time on ice (180:16) and shorthanded shots (14) this season. Goodrow's four shorthanded points are the second most on the team.
    - Ryan Reaves scored his fifth goal of the season and second in his last four games. Reaves added four hits to his night, giving him 275 hits on the year - the third most in the NHL.
    - Kevin Rooney, an alternate captain tonight, assisted on Reaves' goal for his first point since February 24 against Washington (A). Rooney has six goals and six assists for 12 points in 60 games this season.
    - Patrik Nemeth earned his fifth assist of the season and second in his last five games.
