This project could not have come together without the help of the Nashville Parks Department and the Mayor's office. Having the backing of these groups has been beneficial not only for the Preds, Parks Department and the Mayor's office, but most importantly the citizens of downtown Nashville.
"My special thanks to the Predators and Mars Petcare for making this work," Nashville Mayor John Cooper said. "It's the partnership between these two great entities that's making this possible. Dogs - we don't deserve them, but we're awfully thrilled that they're in our lives. We're grateful that this space is going to make their downtown citizenship more enjoyable for all of us."
Living in downtown Nashville right on Broadway is a fun place to be for many residents. However, navigating the space as a dog owner can be difficult to make sure pets are being well taken care of. Having this fenced-in dog park has already provided great comfort and relief to plenty of people in this community.
"It's amazing," Krista Uvo - a resident of downtown Nashville - said. "This is just really a gem for us. Especially when you have big dogs and to have green space downtown [is a great benefit]. We live over here at The Place, and just to have real turf is great, and you just can't ask for more… Now that it's gated, it's even more of an asset."
The space has already been a big hit for the pups of downtown Nashville. Making friends with other dogs in the area - even Preds mascot Gnash - has been a great treat to them.
"She's the best thing," Uvo said of her great dane, Lucca. "She's a big couch potato, but when she gets out here, she loves to run with her brother - who can't be found right now because he's enjoying the space and living his best life right now. This space is great."
