The latest edition of the popular video game series from EA Sports, NHL 17, released its 2016-17 season predictions on Thursday, with the Nashville Predators selected as the eventual Stanley Cup Champions.
The video game simmed the entire upcoming season and playoffs, and the Preds finished alone on top at the end of both.
In a blog post on the EA Sports website, the details on the simmed season are explained in full. According to NHL 17, the Predators, powered by the recent acquisition of P.K. Subban, will claim their first President's Trophy (and Central Division title), finishing with an NHL-best 110 points.
The fun doesn't stop there. Following First and Second Round playoff victories over the Minnesota Wild and Dallas Stars, Nashville avenges a Second Round loss in 2016 (in reality) to the San Jose Sharks, by topping the California team in six games to advance to the 2017 Stanley Cup Final.
Members of the summer's biggest trade then rise to the forefront, as the Predators take out Shea Weber and the Montreal Canadiens in six games to win their first-ever Stanley Cup.
This may only be virtual reality, but here at NashvillePredators.com, we can confidently say we like where EA Sports is coming from.
