On Nov. 21, 2022, David Poile became the first General Manager in NHL history to reach 1,500 wins, and the Predators made it happen in dramatic fashion.

Trailing 2-1 entering the third period, the Preds scored twice in 28 seconds to take a 3-2 lead over the Arizona Coyotes. Roman Josi tied the game with a power-play goal just over a minute into the period, and Matt Duchene scored the go-ahead goal seconds later.

Arizona's Nick Bjugstad tied it 3-3 at 13:16 of the third period, scoring a shorthanded goal on a 2-on-1 rush following a Nashville turnover. The game went to overtime, and then to a shootout - with Cody Glass netting the game-winner in the seventh round.

After all, 1,500 wins is an unprecedented accomplishment - so why not add some excitement?

"[Head Coach John Hynes] tapped me on the butt to get out there, so obviously it was a little bit of nerves," Glass said. "But I'm a confident player and obviously I've played with [Arizona goaltender Connor Ingram] for the past year, so I kind of knew what I was going to do and got fortunate enough to kind the change of pace on it and obviously it went in the net."

With Poile reaching the 1500-win milestone, Hynes had plenty of adulatory remarks as he reflected on his time working alongside the Predators GM.

"1,500 games - I mean, that's unbelievable," Hynes said. "I can tell you firsthand, just from having to work with David day to day, the experience he has and the success he's had, his energy level every day, his attention to detail, his willingness to communicate. He loves the game, loves everything about his job, loves the Predators and to have an opportunity to work with him side by side has been really, really impressive. With not only his accomplishments, but for how long he's been in the game, all that he's accomplished, I think his humility, his work ethic and his passion to do the job every day is remarkable."

Poile will step down from his role on June 30 as the winningest GM in NHL history with 1,533 career wins (939 with Nashville, 594 with Washington) and 3,436 total points. His 939 wins with Nashville are the third-most by an NHL GM with a single franchise.
