When the Oilers traded for Ryan Strome, it was easy to assume he'd fill Jordan Eberle's spot on the right wing. However, Strome has a history in the middle and don't be surprised if that's where he settles in the future.
"I think naturally he's a centre," said Oilers President of Hockey Operations and GM Peter Chiarelli. "I talked to him three or four times in Chicago and at the Toronto airport. I think he prefers to play centre. Based on what I've seen in his play in junior and I think he's probably a centreman. Having said that, he has the shot and the stick skills to play on the wall. We'll see what we have at that time."
In the end it will come down to what's the right fit for the team, but that versatility to play both situations is something this Oilers staff seems to covet.
