Kasperi Kapanen scored two goals, Mitchell Marner had a goal and two assists, and John Tavares extended his point streak to seven games for Toronto (13-6-0), which has won five of six.
The Maple Leafs trailed 3-2 after the first period then scored three unanswered goals.

"Second and third periods was a great response by us," Andersen said.
Kevin Labanc, Joe Pavelski and Marc-Edouard Vlasic scored for San Jose (10-7-3), and Martin Jones made 29 saves.
"We've struggled at times to play with leads," Pavelski said. "We just haven't stayed on the attack. Some small detail mistakes. I'm sure it's not staying to process. The frustrating part is we haven't played to our identity. We do it for a few minutes and then we do this or that and suddenly there's a breakaway, then another breakaway.
"We're just hanging them out to dry with these odd-man rushes and chances. It happened again tonight. It can't happen five times a night. We can see the same mistakes happening, we talk about them. We want to do it right. When these same mistakes happen it kind of deflates us a bit."

TOR@SJS: Kapanen goes top shelf off Marleau's dish

Toronto tied it 3-3 at 2:30 of the second period when Josh Leivo scored on a rush.
Kapanen gave Toronto a 4-3 lead at 12:06 with a shorthanded goal on a breakaway. Marner deflected Pavelski's pass near the Toronto blue line along the boards and sent a pass to Kapanen.
"They've got a couple righties on top on the blue line," Kapanen said of the Sharks' power-play unit. "I was kind of just making sure they wouldn't go from one side to the other, and [Marner] made a great play."
Marner scored on a rush at 13:54 of the third period to make it 5-3, taking a long pass from Andersen and scoring from the right circle.
"I know he's a great puck-handler," Marner said of Andersen. "As soon as he got it I saw him look at me and I was ready for it."
Tavares gave Toronto a 1-0 lead at 2:10 of the first period when he banked a wraparound off Vlasic's skate. Tavares has 10 points (five goals, five assists) during the streak. Morgan Rielly had an assist for his 24th point, the most in the NHL by a defenseman this season.
The Maple Leafs scored two seconds after their first power play ended. Barclay Goodrow went to the penalty box eight seconds into the first perid after roughing Nazem Kadri after their opening face-off. On Jan. 4 at Scotiabank Arena last season, Kadri and Joe Thornton got into a fight during their game-opening face-off, and Kadri ripped out a chunk of Thornton's beard.
"He fought [Thornton] last year at the opening face-off so I though I would try and return the favor," Goodrow said. "We didn't play our style of hockey. We had too many turnovers, not winning enough battles, not getting pucks in. When you are facing a fast team and skilled team those are things you have to do."
Kadri continued to be a target for Sharks hits throughout the game.
"It seemed like they were pretty agitated to start so I figured I'd just try to use that to my advantage," Kadri said. "I think they might have been a little too worried about their own thing out there. We took care of business and it was a good win for us."
San Jose tied it 1-1 on Labanc's goal from close range at 5:28, but Kapanen scored a 4-on-4 goal on an odd-man rush to put Toronto ahead 2-1 at 11:47. He took a cross-ice pass from former Sharks forward Patrick Marleau and scored on a wrist shot from the right face-off circle.
Pavelski made it 2-2 at 12:51 with a power-play goal, redirecting Brent Burns' shot. Vlasic gave the Sharks a 3-2 lead at 18:21 with a goal from the left circle.
