Artemi Panarin had two goals and two assists, Cam Atkinson had one goal and three assists and Zach Werenski had four assists for the Columbus Blue Jackets in a 7-6 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Nationwide Arena on Friday.

Oliver Bjorkstrand broke a 6-6 tie at 16:04 of the third period.
Each team scored three times in the first period. Panarin (31 seconds, 5:35) gave the Blue Jackets a 2-0 lead, but Sidney Crosby (6:05) and Carl Hagelin (6:40) scored 35 seconds apart to tied it 2-2. It was Crosby's first goal of the preseason.
Boone Jenner gave the Blue Jackets a 3-2 lead at 12:11 before Derick Brassard tied it 3-3 at 17:27.
Brassard gave Pittsburgh a 4-3 lead with a shorthanded goal 2:04 into the second period, and Patric Hornqvist made it 5-3 on the power play at 4:38.
Atkinson pulled the Blue Jackets within 5-4 at 7:13 and Nick Foligno tied it 5-5 on the power play at 10:06.
Bryan Rust gave the Penguins a 6-5 lead at 2:13 of the third before Dean Kukan tied it 6-6 at 10:25.
Sergei Bobrovsky made 23 saves for Columbus. Tristan Jarry started for Pittsburgh and made 15 saves on 20 shots in 30:06. Casey DeSmith made 15 saves.

Fleury, Golden Knights shut out Kings

Marc-Andre Fleury made 26 saves and Ryan Reaves scored in the Vegas Golden Knights' 2-0 win against the Los Angeles Kings at T-Mobile Arena.
Reaves gave Vegas a 1-0 lead at 6:55 of the second period. Jonathan Marchessault and Shea Theodore had the assists. Brayden McNabb scored an empty-net goal at 19:57 of the third.
Jack Campbell made 28 saves for Los Angeles.
The Kings were 0-for-5 on the power play; the Golden Knights were 0-for-2.

Maple Leafs use special teams to defeat Red Wings

The Toronto Maple Leafs scored four goals in a span of 3:54 in the second period - three on the power play and one shorthanded - in a 6-2 win against the Detroit Red Wings at Scotiabank Arena.
Jake Gardiner scored the first of three straight power-play goals when he gave the Maple Leafs a 2-1 lead at 12:47. John Tavares scored his fifth of the preseason to make it 3-1 at 14:58, and Patrick Marleau extended the lead to 4-1 at 15:25. Par Lindholm scored shorthanded at 16:41 for a 5-1 advantage.
Dylan Larkin brought the Red Wings within 5-2 at 1:10 of the third period before Gardiner made it 6-2 at 15:41.
Nazem Kadri gave Toronto a 1-0 lead 1:38 into the first period, but Gustav Nyquist tied it 1-1 on the power play at 10:21.
Josh Leivo had three assists, and Frederik Andersen made 23 saves for the Maple Leafs.
Jimmy Howard played the first two periods for the Red Wings and made 19 saves on 24 shots. Harri Sateri made three saves.

Aho, Teravainen lift Hurricanes past Capitals

Sebastian Aho scored his second goal of the game 19 seconds into overtime to lift the Carolina Hurricanes to a 5-4 win against the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena.
Teuvo Teravainen had four points (one goal, three assists) for Carolina, which is 5-0-0 this preseason. Andrei Svechnikov and Valentin Zykov also scored, and Petr Mrazek made 25 saves.
Alex Ovechkin scored two goals and Evgeny Kuznetsov had two assists for Washington. Andre Burakovsky tied it at 12:59 of the third period.
Jayson Megna also scored for the Capitals, and Braden Holtby made 31 saves.

Dahlin scores to help Sabres top Islanders

Rasmus Dahlin scored his first goal of the preseason to help the Buffalo Sabres to a 5-4 win against the New York Islanders at General Motors Centre in Oshawa, Ontario.
Jeff Skinner scored two goals for Buffalo. Casey Nelson and Zemgus Girgensons also scored, and Carter Hutton made 19 saves.
Dahlin, the No. 1 pick of the 2018 NHL Draft, gave the Sabres a 3-1 lead at 3:42 of the second period.
Anders Lee had two goals for New York, and Ryan Pulock and Josh Bailey also scored. Nick Leddy and Mathew Barzal each had two assists.
Robin Lehner allowed three goals on 14 shots for the Islanders. Thomas Greiss made five saves in relief.
Islanders center Casey Cizikas left the game in the second period because of an undisclosed injury.

Schwartz sparks Blues in win against Stars

Jaden Schwartz had a goal and two assists to help the St. Louis Blues to a 3-1 win against the Dallas Stars at Enterprise Center.
Ryan O'Reilly scored 31 seconds into the second period and Schwartz scored at 1:30 of the third for St. Louis. Vladimir Tarasenko made it 3-1 with an empty-net goal at 19:53.
Stars forward Blake Comeau ended Jake Allen's shutout with 1:57 remaining. Allen finished with 21 saves.
Landon Bow made 23 saves for Dallas, which was outshot 14-4 in the first period.
The Blues were 0-for-5 on the power play; the Stars were 0-for-3.

Rantanen, Avalanche defeat Wild in overtime

Mikko Rantanen scored a power-play goal 1:29 into overtime to give the Colorado Avalanche a 4-3 win against the Minnesota Wild at Pepsi Center.
The goal was upheld after a video review.
Alex Kerfoot had a goal and two assists, Tyson Jost and Matt Calvert scored, and Philipp Grubauer made 21 saves for the Avalanche. Tyson Barrie had two assists.
Jason Zucker had a goal and two assists, and Mikael Granlund and Nino Niederreiter scored for the Wild. Alex Stalock started and made 25 saves on 27 shots in 30:24. Andrew Hammond made 12 saves on 14 shots.
Zucker tied it 3-3 with a shorthanded goal with 1:02 remaining in the third period.
Kerfoot gave Colorado a 1-0 lead at 13:34 of the first period. Granlund tied it 1-1 14 seconds into the second, but Jost made it 2-1 at 1:33.
Calvert extended the lead to 3-1 with a power-play goal at 6:16 of the third before Niederreiter got the Wild within 3-2 at 8:12.
