Welcome to the NHL On Tap. Three NHL.com writers will share what they are most looking forward to on the schedule each day. Today, their choices from the six games Monday.

Eriksson to reach milestone for Coyotes

Loui Eriksson is expected to play his 1,000th NHL game when the Arizona Coyotes play at his former team, the Dallas Stars, on Monday (8:30 p.m. ET; BSSW, BSAZ+, ESPN+, NHL LIVE). The forward, playing his first season with Arizona after being acquired from the Vancouver Canucks in a trade July 23, has scored 597 points (250 goals, 347 assists) in 999 games with the Stars, Boston Bruins, Canucks and Coyotes. Eriksson will become the 360th player (357 skaters, three goalies) in NHL history to reach the milestone after Winnipeg Jets forward Blake Wheeler played his 1,000th game in a 6-3 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday. Eriksson has three assists in 22 games with the Coyotes (5-17-2) this season. The Stars (12-7-2) have won eight of their past nine games. -- Jim Cerny, Senior Editor

Kraken's Tanev reunites with Penguins in Seattle

Brandon Tanev spent two seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins before he was claimed in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft by the Seattle Kraken on July 21. Despite a short tenure in Pittsburgh (100 regular-season games), Tanev made quite an impression on fans and teammates alike with his outsized personality and no-quarter-given style of play. Now the Penguins will go against the wrecking-ball forward, who has scored 13 points (eight goals, five assists) in 24 games, in a game against the Kraken at raucous Climate Pledge Arena (10 p.m. ET; ROOT-NW, ATTSN-PT, ESPN+, NHL LIVE). It should be one of the entertaining subplots in the first visit to Seattle for Sidney Crosby and the Penguins (11-8-5). It also doesn't hurt that the Kraken (9-13-2) have found their footing a bit, posting a 5-2-1 record in their past eight games. -- Shawn P. Roarke, Senior Director of Editorial

Canucks play first game after coach, GM changes

The Vancouver Canucks fired coach Travis Green and general manager Jim Benning on Sunday after starting the season 8-15-2, last in the eight-team Pacific Division. Bruce Boudreau, who most recently coached the Minnesota Wild in 2019-20, was hired to replace Green and is expected to make his Vancouver debut behind the bench against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday (10 p.m. ET; SNP, BSW, ESPN+, NHL LIVE). The Canucks could benefit from the Kings (10-9-4) being on the second of a back-to-back set after they defeated the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 on Sunday. One player to watch is center Elias Pettersson, who has scored 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in 25 games after scoring 153 points (65 goals, 88 assists) in 165 games in his first three seasons with the Canucks. Boudreau will look to get Pettersson and the Canucks going Monday in an attempt to turn around their season and make a push for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. -- Rob Reese, fantasy editor
