Golden Knights knock off Predators behind power play

LAS VEGAS --
Evgenii Dadonov
had a goal and two assists for the Vegas Golden Knights in a 6-1 victory against the Nashville Predators at T-Mobile Arena on Thursday.

The forward played a day after a trade to the Anaheim Ducks fell through. Dadonov was traded on Monday, but the NHL voided the trade Wednesday, saying his contract included a limited no-trade clause that had not been complied with.
"I would say it's been a stressful couple of days," Dadonov said. "It's nothing like I could do. I was just waiting on a decision."
Dadonov missed two games waiting for a ruling on the trade, shutout losses to the Minnesota Wild and Winnipeg Jets.
"How he handled the situation, how [the fans] handled the situation, couldn't have been done better," Golden Knights coach Peter DeBoer said. "We needed him out there tonight. He was a big help for us."

Chandler Stephenson had a goal and two assists and Jonathan Marchessault had three assists for the Golden Knights (35-28-4). Logan Thompson made 34 saves in his fifth consecutive start.
"We needed [a win like this]," DeBoer said. "We hadn't scored in two games, so everybody feels good scoring six goals. We got goals all kinds of ways. Goal-scoring is a confidence thing. We couldn't have been lower coming out of Winnipeg."
Roman Josi had an assist to extend his assist streak to nine games and his point streak to 12 (four goals, 22 assists) for the Predators (37-24-4). Juuse Saros made 44 saves.
"It wasn't close to our best," Nashville coach John Hynes said. "We've got to get home. We've got to regroup. We've got to rectify and get to the game that gives us the best chance to win."
Mattias Janmark gave the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead at 1:31 of the first period, deflecting Alex Pietrangelo's wrist shot.
"We missed 'Janny' when he's not in the lineup," DeBoer said. "This is his time of year. When the chips are down, we've seen it in the past, playoff hockey, down the stretch, important games, he has the ability to rise to the occasion. I'm not surprised he's finding another level for us."

Nicolas Roy made it 2-0 at 13:45 after he chased down a loose puck and shot from the right circle.
"It's nice [to score]," Roy said. "Going into my third season, I'm trying to be more offensive as well. I was able to do that. I'm just trying to help the team offensively."
Dadonov gave the Golden Knights a 3-0 lead at 3:14 of the second period, scoring a power-play goal.
"It's awesome, but that was the loudest I've heard the fans cheer for someone scoring a goal," Thompson said. "I was happy for him. He's happy to be here. He's working hard for us. It's awesome to see."
Filip Forsberg made it 3-1 at 5:00 of the second period with a power-play goal.
Eichel made it 4-1 at 8:41 on the power play. He skated through the left circle and sent a wrist shot underneath Saros's right pad.

Stephenson made it 5-1 with a power-play goal at 14:42 of the third period. Pietrangelo scored at 17:07 for the 6-1 final.
Vegas went 3-for-5 on the power play.
"We were attacking a bit more inside the dots and recovering the puck," Marchessault said. "I think when you do that, that's how you build a successful powerplay. To be honest, everybody was shooting it well. Just winning your battles in the corner. We were prepared and also pre-scouted what Nashville was going to give us. We answered well tonight."
